We searched high and low for a shabu-shabu restaurant in Philadelphia and couldn’t find any, so we drove to New York and stopped by Shabu-Tatsu in East Village, New York. Located at 216 E 10th St (between 2nd Ave & 1st Ave) this restaurant was the perfect ending to 2010.
From Wikipedia,
Shabu-shabu also spelled syabu-syabu is a Japanese variant of hot pot. The dish is related to sukiyaki in style, in that both use thinly sliced meat and vegetables and are usually served with dipping sauces, but it is considered to be more savory and less sweet than sukiyaki. It is considered a winter dish but is eaten year-round.
